A collection of images taken by a Vietnamese photojournalist has wonthird prize in the journalism and documentary category of the AnnualPhoto Awards, the Czech Republic’s largest contest of its kind.
The winning collection, titled Dinh Menh (Destiny) and shot by VietVan from the Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper from 2009 to 2015, captures theeveryday life of Major General Nguyen Duc Huy, the former commander ofthe Vietnamese Military Zone 2.
Those photos will nowgo on display at a gallery in Prague, published in Art Photo Magazineand sent to collectors, critics and gallery owners across the world.
Viet Van is the only Vietnamese who has won prizes at the competitionthree times. In addition to these prizes, he has won the “Prix de laPhotographie, Paris” award in France for six consecutive years.
