The German Film Festival is bringing new German-language filmhighlights to Vietnam this September, sure to thrill audiences with aversatile program in addition to an exciting special guest from Germany.

The Goethe-Institut will open the festival on the 6th of September 2015 inHanoi.


A selection of the newest and most popular films fromGermany will be shown in Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue and HCMC. In its 6thannual year, the festival will showcase the remarkable dynamism andcreativity of the German film industry, genres ranging from thriller todrama and comedy.


The organizers will present in more than 30 screenings – inoriginal German language with Vietnamese and English subtitles orvoice-over – selected films which have been particularly successful incinemas around the world as well as at the Berlin Film Festival andother festivals.

Among special guest will be the young director, screenwriter and actor Tali Barde, who will present his film For No Eyes Only in Hanoi and HCMC, and will be available to answer questions from the audience.


In 2015 German films capture historic as well as current topics asthey deal with the power of digital media, with traditions and culturaldistinctions. This year’s German Film Festival in Vietnam offers theaudience a selection of eight film highlights from renowned directorsand with famous German actors.


The Festival Films:


The opening film “Who am I – No system is safe” is apacy and visually striking cyber-thriller about a gang of computerhackers with a dangerous Russian group and European cyber police on itstrail.


The portrait of a German soldier in Afghanistan Inbetween Worldsexplores questions of affinity and otherness, trust and failure. Whatremains of the ideals of human dignity when you are caught up in a dailystruggle for survival?

Two of this year’s films tell the story of little boys who all of asudden are on their own: Jack is a 10-year-old who runs away with hisbrother and embarks on a dangerous and disturbing journey across Berlin.In Run boy, run!, Academy Award winner Pepe Danquarttells the true story of an eight-year-old refugee, escaping from theghetto of Warsaw, who manages to be one step ahead of his pursuers forthree years because of his courage and an incredible instinct forsurvival.


For no eyes only is what the teenager Sam observeswhen he hits upon a hacking software that enables him access to externalwebcams and lets him witness a suspicious situation.


A lone rider high up in the alps, a wedding that comes with aterrible tradition and the mysterious death of two brothers is thesetting of the visually stunning Euro-Western The Dark Valley.


Not my day is the story of Till Reiner who finds away out of his early midlife crisis when his bank is being robbed and hebonds with his kidnappers – a crime-comedy-road movie for the wholefamily. Fantasy fans shouldn’t miss Vampire Sisters as it followsSilvania and Dakaria from Transylvania to a small town in Germany, wherethey have to suit to the everyday life of humans and hide their vampireidentity – even more so as it turns out their neighbor is a vampirehunter…
