German photographer shows changes of nature through Hanoi photo exhibition

Inga Kerber, a photographer from Germany, will display her art whichdeals with landscapes, forests and nature at an exhibition that opentoday (September 16) in Ha Noi.

The exhibition Cliché of a Landscape displays sets of three to five photographs showing small changes of the same landscape.

She combines such classic motifs with new, accidental anddeliberate defective reproduction techniques, thereby acquiring analmost irresistible painterly quality.

Kerber was born in 1982 in Berlin, and lives and works in Leipzig. She has received numerous awards and scholarships.

She is the fourth artist to be awarded the Artist ResidencyGrant from the Cultural Foundation of Saxony. The Leipzig-basedphotographer will immerse herself in Viet Nam’s arts and culture scenefor the next three months while living and working in Ha Noi.

The exhibition will run until October 4 at the Ha Noi Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Ha Noi.

Kerber will discuss her working process in a talk onSeptember 26 and discuss the photographic trends today in Germany andViet Nam with photo artist Maika Elan and visual artist Nguyen The Son.

Elan started her career as a fashion photographer. Shegained success with her debut photo project The Pink Choice whichfocusses on the life of gay couples in Viet Nam. It won the top prize inthe Contemporary Issues category at the World Press Photo 2013 and topprize for Documentary Story at Pride Photo Award 2013.

Son works as lecturer at the Viet Nam Fine Arts University.He is an emerge artist with many solo and group exhibitions on the themeof urban area and modern life.

Kerber will also pass on her knowledge to young photographers and students in workshops in Ha Noi, Hue and HCM City.
