Thang Long Avenue (Lang – Hoa Lac Highway) opened in October 2010 to celebrate Hanoi’s 1000th anniversary. The 30-km road was built with total investment of more than VND7.5 trillion (US$410 million).
The road starts at the intersection of Lang-Hoa Lac Road and Ring Road 3, and ends at the intersection between Lang-Hoa Lac Road, National Highway 21 and Ho Chi Minh Highway. It is 140-170m wide and has six express lanes and two additional lanes for motorcycles and bicycles. It is known as the most modern and most beautiful road in Vietnam.

The Hanoi belt road No.3 is an elevated road project commenced in June 2010, and it is the most modern elevated highway in Vietnam. The road is nearly 9 km long, for a vehicle speed of 80 km/h.

The $1.5 billion Ha Noi – Lao Cai Highway enables vehicles to run from Hanoi to Lao Cai within 3.5 to 4 hours. Previously, it took travelers nearly 10 hours by train or by car to the resort town of Sapa, the major tourist site in Lao Cai. The 245km highway is among the largest highway projects in Vietnam, which connects Hanoi to Lao Cai running through the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, and Yen Bai.

Cau Gie – Ninh Binh Highway was built at a cost of VND8.9tn ($428m). The six-lane highway covers 50.3km from National Highway 1A in Hanoi to National Highway 10 in Nam Dinh Province, and have a speed limit of 100-120km/h. In the first phase, the project has four lanes with 13 bridges and nine intersections. The project started in 2006 at an initial cost of VND5.4tn ($260m) which increased to VND8.9tn ($428m).

The Nhat Tan Bridge project has a total investment of VND13.6 trillion, including loans from JICA and the Vietnamese Government. This is the third largest bridge built across the Red River since 2000 (after Vinh Tuy Bridge and Thanh Tri Bridge). The bridge will open for traffic in January 2015 to shorten half the travelling time from the Hanoi center to Noi Bai Airport. The bridge is considered a new icon of the capital.

The construction of Vo Nguyen Giap Road started in August 2012 and it was also opened for traffic on January 4, 2015, the same day as the Nhat Tan Bridge. With a total length of 15 km (12 km of road and 3 km of bridge), this new road shortens the distance and time from Noi Bai airport to Hanoi center and reduce the current load for National Highway 3 and the North Thang Long – Noi Bai Road.

T2 Terminal at Noi Bai Airport is the most modern terminal in Vietnam. Its construction began in February 2012 with a total capital of nearly $900 million, including approximately $691 million of Japanese ODA. Along with the Nhat Tan Bridge and Vo Nguyen Giap Road, the terminal was officially inaugurated on January 4, 2015. The terminal has a capacity of 10-15 million passengers per year.

Hue T-junction Overpass is a three-level overpass, costing US$93 million in the central city of Da Nang.
Located on the National Highway 1A at the gateway to Da Nang, the Overpass is expected to ease traffic congestion and reduce accidents there. The T-junction receives more than 15,000 car arrivals and hundreds of thousands of motorbike arrivals every day. It is considered an accident-prone spot in the city.

Cau Rong (Dragon) Bridge in the central city of Da Nang features 166 meters of undulating steel in the shape of a giant fire-breathing dragon flying towards the East Sea. The main span of the 37.5m-wide bridge is bookended by two 128m side sections, with the dragon’s head and tail on each end of them. The whole structure weighs 8,164 tons and stretches 666m in length. With unique aesthetic characteristics, the bridge won the Diamond Award in the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) in the structural systems category. After opening to traffic in March 2013, the Dragon Bridge has become one of Da Nang’s symbols and key tourist attractions.

Thu Thiem Tunnel is the underwater tunnel crossing the Saigon River, linking District 1 with Thu Thiem new urban area in HCM City, which opened in 2011. It is part of the East-West Highway, an important road project under construction to ease the congestion of transport in the inner city as well as transportation from downtown to the Mekong Delta region.

The construction of the 55km HCM City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay started in October 2009, with 4 lanes and designed speed of 120 km/h, with a total investment of more than VND20.6 trillion ($1.03 billion). The project is divided into two phases, with 23.9km being built in the first phase and put into operation in January 2014. The road helps shorten the distance from HCM City to Vung Tau to 95 km, with a traveling time of about one hour 20 minutes instead of 120 km and 2 hours and 30 minutes. The second phase of the project starts from Long Thanh to Dau Giay in Dong Nai province, totaling 31.1 km long.
Once the entire road opens for traffic, the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Dau Day will be only 50 km, with a travel time of one hour, instead of 70 km and 3 hours due to frequent traffic jams. Traffic on this highway is also managed by modern techniques.

Trung Luong Highway connects HCM City to Tien Giang and provinces in the Mekong Delta. The road is 61.9 km, with the design speed of upl to 120 km/h, the total investment of nearly VND10 trillion.

The 22km Vo Van Kiet-Mai Chi Tho Highway is the most modern road in HCM City. It was built at the cost of VND16 trillion.

Pham Van Dong Road has a total investment of $340 million. The construction started in 6/2008 and is expected to be completed in early 2016. This is an important road of HCM City, connecting Tan Son Nhat airport with Highway 1A and Highway 1K.
