Authorities in the central province of Quang Tri are making plans to turn a newly-discovered cave into a tourist attraction.

Brai Cave, around 120 kilometers west of Dong Ha Town, had been used as a refuge by Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War. It was rediscovered in 2012.

The 800-meter cave boasts a lot of large and beautiful stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes and colors.

After surveying Brai on Wednesday, Nguyen Duc Chinh, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, ordered the tourism department to devise a plan and seek advice from foreign experts.

“It’s vital to have a scientific and detailed plan to bring tourists to the cave, preventing it from being damaged,” said Chinh.
