Spa "Oscars" to be held in Da Nang

Prior to being selected to host the biggest event in the global spaindustry, the resort, invested by the Sun Group, picked up “The MostLuxurious Resort in the World” award in 2014 in the World Travel Awards.

“The choice of country and location to host the awards ceremony is acompetitive process,” CEO of the World Spa Awards, Ms. Gina Reynolds,said. “After a lot of deliberation we believe that the InterContinentalDanang Sun Peninsula Resort will be the perfect venue for a successfulevent.”

Considered the “Oscars” of the spa industry, the World Spa Awards arepresented to raise standards in the spa industry through honoring theleading names.

The management unit of the World Travel Awards, which have been heldannually since 1993, also holds other famous awards such as the “WorldSki Awards” and the “World Golf Awards”.

The World Spa Awards 2015 have been judged on by experts working in the spa industry, the media, and the public.

Votes are posted online on the World Spa Awards’ website. Voting wasconducted from May 25 to July 19 in various award categories, such asthe hotel with the best spa services, best healthcare spa, best spabrand, and best spa on a yacht.

In the 2007-2013 period the global spa industry grew 58 per cent and revenues exceeded $94 billion.
