The red strip marks the area to be closed to traffic
The transport department in Ho Chi Minh City has released the latest schedule for road closures to make way for celebrations of the upcoming national holidays.
Under the updated plan, more streets will be closed from traffic starting Friday.
Downtown sections of Cach Mang Thang Tam, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Nguyen Huu Canh, Ton Đuc Thang, Ham Nghi, Le Lai, Pham Hong Thai – the red strip on the map – will be blocked, creating a much larger no-vehicle zone that was previously announced.
Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the zone from 7 p.m. to midnight. on April 24 and from 4 a.m. to noon on April 26 and April 30.
The transport department once again asked city dwellers and companies to plan for detours.
The city has already closed sections of Le Duan and Pasteur in front of the Independence Palace for a few weeks as it prepares for celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the country’s reunification.
Closings between March 30 and May 6 include a section of Pasteur St. between Han Thuyen and Alexandre de Rhodes, and a section of Le Duan between Pham Ngoc Thach and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia.
Vehicles are not allowed to stop or park on Han Thuyen and Alexandre de Rhodes.
