Vietnamese women with a breast size bigger than 100 centimeters are encouraged to join a local company, which has taken the public by a shock by promising to pay qualified candidates as much as VND100 million (US$4,660) a year.
Healthy Vietnam Life Co. Ltd on Friday had to release an announcement to rectify its controversial recruitment advertisement, which immediately went viral after it surfaced on the Internet on Wednesday.
The company, which sells matcha – or fine powder green tea, is looking for employees whose duty is to demonstrate how to milk 100ml of breast milk for its next campaign, according to the recruitment ad it posted on several websites on the April Fool"s Day.
The ad targets Vietnamese women, aging 18 to 35 and weighing between 55 and 65kg, who are breastfeeding their babies rather than feed them with infant formula products.
Their breasts must measure more than 100cm in size and have not been altered by plastic surgery, according to the company.
“If you meet all criteria, contact us to grab the chance to receive VND100 million only with 100ml of your milk,” the ad reads.
Along with the recruitment advertisement, Healthy Vietnam Life also distributed a cartoon-styled banner to sum up their requirements.
The ad banner uses the slang word "pomelo" to refer to the women"s breasts
The candidates must be “confident of their bosoms,” which should be “100 percent natural and contain no chemicals,” according to the banner.
Application is open from April 1 to May 1, according to the ad.
Healthy Vietnam Life confirmed on Friday that the recruitment is not an April Fool’s prank, but the company is indeed serious in looking for qualified women to do the breast milk-producing demonstration job.
“There are no content in the advertisement that should be deemed facetious or prankish,” the company said in a press release.
“The purpose of the recruitment is to find a candidate who is breastfeeding their children and has knowledge about breast milk,” the company said.
“She will be trained to give guidance on how to use and preserve breast milk correctly, as well as to make simple products from breast milk at home, to our customers.”
The company also said the brief content of the recruitment advertisement and the cartoon-styled banner may have caused people to misunderstand it as being unserious.
The selected candidate will have to sign a one-year contract with the company to get the VND100 million salary, VnExpress quoted a company representative as saying.
She will have to work four days a week, and two hours per day, he elaborated.
“She will do the demonstration directly, or via video,” the representative said, adding the hefty wage is not paid periodically throughout the year.
The company said it had received more than 200 applications and will send questionnaires to the candidates on April 10, according to VnExpress.
