
In attendance were Deputy General Director of VNAT, Mr. Ha Van Sieu; Leaders of VNAT’s Departments; representatives of Viet Nam Society of Travel Agents, the Department of Tourism of Ha Noi City and several tourism businesses.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy General Director Ha Van Sieu highly valued Japan being one of the most important partners of Viet Nam tourism sector. Recently, travel by air and by sea between Viet Nam and Japan has been more convenient which helped raise the tourist exchange between the two countries. The number of Japanese tourists to Viet Nam in 2014 was over 600,000 arrivals and in 9 months of 2015 was nearly 500,000 arrivals, ranking the 3rd of international visitors to Viet Nam. In 2014, there was more than 124,000 Vietnamese arrivals to Japan, increasing 46% over 2013.
On this occasion, from October 6 – 10, the Japanese delegation visited some attractions in Viet Nam such as Ha Long Bay, Trang An landscape complex, Cuc Phuong National Park, Ha Noi Old Quarter.

At the meeting, the Japanese delegates appreciated tourism potential of Viet Nam with diversity of landscapes, culture and culinary in different regions. The delegates also suggested that Viet Nam should train more Japanese-speaking tour guides to meet an increasing number of Japanese tourists to Viet Nam. In addition, Vietnamese tourism office in Japan should promote its role by collaborating with Japanese tourism association and media agencies to introduce and popularize Vietnamese tourism for Japanese citizens and travel businesses.
