Paceo and her band which consists of Antonin-Tri Hoang (saxophone alto), Pierre Perchaud (guitar) and Joan Eche-Puig (contrabass) will play pieces in her album Yôkaï which was released in 2012. Yôkaï, which means bewitching apparition in Japanese, contains strong and sharp drum beats mingled with melodious sounds of saxophone, guitar and contrabass.
Yôkaï is seen as Anne Paceo’s journal of music to take audiences to locations where she has been to, from her birth place of the Ivory Coast to Myanmar, and Japan via cultural stories and fairy tales.
Anne Paceo started to learn drum at the age of 10 and entered the Paris Conservatory when she turned 21. The 31-year-old has achieved some prestigious awards, including Victoires du Jazz and Django d’Or for her music talent.
Paceo has cooperated with many veteran jazz artists in the world, including Rhoda Scott, Michel Legrand, Rick Margitza, Houston Person, and China Moses. She has staged concerts in 39 countries and has been acknowledged as one of the best artists in her generation.
Paceo has shown her talent in composing via her three albums – Triphase (2008), Empreintes (2010), and Yôkaï (2012). Jazz magazine once said Yôkaï had confirmed Anne Paceo’s position in a new jazz stage.
