Vietnam int’l finger-style guitar festival to be held in July

The Vietnam International Finger-Style Guitar Festival will takeplace in the Youth Theatre in Hanoi on July 17, drawing six renownedartists from Belgium, Spain, Malaysia, Japan, China and Taiwan.

The event is one of the international finger-style guitar concertseries, held annually since 2010. Four other performances will be alsoheld in July in the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, China and Taiwan.

It will be jointly organised by Taiwan’s Wind Strings Entertainment,the Vietnam Finger-style Guitar Organisation and the Youth Theatre.

The festival’s objective is to expand the development of the finger-style guitar genre in Vietnam.

Finger-style guitar technique has been popular in the world forseveral decades but has only been well-known in Vietnam for five years.

The Vietnam Finger-style Guitar Organisation,the first and only of its kind in Vietnam, now has more than 9,000members nationwide.
