Low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific inaugurated a new nonstop service connecting Hanoi to Bangkok on Sunday, more than three months after the launch of its first service between Vietnam and Thailand.
The Jetstar Pacific flight BL667 carrying 180 passengers departed from Noi Bai International Airport at 11:10 am and landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok after a one hour and 50 minute flight, marking the new air route.
Jetstar said it will offer one daily Hanoi-Bangkok flight per week, using the 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
The carrier opened the Ho Chi Minh City-Bangkok service in December 2014, its maiden flight between Vietnam and Thailand.
The latest flight to Bangkok is seen as part of Jetstar’s strategy to expand to the Thai market, its general director Le Hong Ha said.
Tourists can also travel between Thailand and Vietnam via the service that connects Bangkok with Hue, the capital of the central Vietnamese province of Thua Thien-Hue, which was launched on March 18 by Thailand’s NewGen Airways.
The Bangkok-Hue service is offered under the charter flight model, with NewGen Airways willing to make up for losses during the one-year trial run of the service.
