The fare reduction is the result of an agreement inked recently between Vietjet and the HCM City Tourism Association.
A representative from the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association said air tickets normally account for 45%-50% of a tour’s total fee and thanks to Vietjet’s fare cut, domestic tourism agencies would be able to offer more affordable tours which will in turn encourage tourism growth.
Vietjet has recently announced the opening of several new domestic routes, such as Ho Chi Minh City – Chu Lai (Quang Nam) on May 27, Ho Chi Minh City – Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) on April 29 and Hanoi – Quy Nhon on April 26.
This year Vietnam will focus on promoting the country’s incredible heritage sites. It is hoped that these new flights and cheaper tours will encourage more Vietnamese and international travelers to explore many of the country’s heritage sites.
