Performance to raise funds for disadvantaged artists

An art show titled Tinh Nghe Sy will raise funds to help elderly and disadvantaged artists.

 

Actor Han Van Tinh, who has recovered from abattle against lung cancer, will perform at the Tinh Nghe Sy art show.The event will raise funds to help elderly and disadvantaged artistsacross Viet Nam.

The Viet Nam Theatre Artists’ Association and Vietnameseartists are working together to organise the show, which will coincidewith Viet Nam’s Theatrical Day on August 22. It will be held at the AuCo Arts Centre on Huynh Thuc Khang Street.

According to Le Tien Tho, chairman of Viet Nam TheatreArtists’ Association, many elderly or sick artists live in poorconditions across the country.

Some artists have organised shows in recent years to supporttheir senior colleagues. In this spirit, the association decided tohold a special show to draw participation from artists and the public,who will be encouraged to donate, he said.

Many renowned Vietnamese artists will joint the event,including Kim Tien, Hong Lien and Luong Nguyet Anh. Actor Han Van Tinhwill also join, having returned to health after a fight with lungcancer.

“The artists’ life in Viet Nam is actually very difficult and salaries are low,” Tinh said.

“Tinh Nghe Sy is a very meaningful event and a bigencouragement to disadvantaged artists everywhere. Through this show Iwant to express my gratitude to the public and my colleagues, who havewholeheartedly supported me through a difficult time. I also want to domy small part and help out others.”

Visitors and benefactors can contribute by either purchasingtickets to the show or sending donations directly to the Viet NamTheatre Artists’ Association. All the money collected from tickets anddonations will be used to assist sick or disadvantaged artists acrossthe country.

Before this event, art events have been held seekingdonations for poor artists – like the Chia Se Yeu Thuong (Sharing Love)music show by singer Dam Vinh Hung, which benefited actress Hoang Lan.
