Vietnam: many famous films screened in Paraguay

A scence in the film "Passerine bird"

On August 02, the museum took place with a participation of some mascots of history in Vietnam.

The museum will help some children understand more about a real program at school with a theme of “bamboo and application fine arts”. It is one of some programs to implement in the up-coming time to develop the museum education.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina and Paraguay Nguyen Dinh Thao said Vietnam values the importance of its friendly relationship and multifaceted cooperation with Paraguay, of which, culture plays an important role, serving as a bridge to increase understanding and connection between the peoples of the two countries.

Seven Vietnamese films are being screened, including the famous “Con Chim Vanh Khuyen” (Passerine bird), “Mua Gio Chuong” (The season of the whirlwind), and “Dung Dot” (Don’t burn), said Delia Evangelista Ocampos, Chief of the Department of Culture under the Paraguay Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

An exhibition featuring Vietnamese photos and handicraft products will also be organised on the occasion, she added.

Film “Passerine bird” by Nguyen Van Thong and Tran Vu was screened at the opening ceremony. The film tells about the life of little Nga and her father. Little Nga and her father earn their living by fishing on a riverbank. He father also carries a secret duty of transporting revolutionary cadres across the river to do their mission. Little Nga also helps her father with that secret duty. French troops have suspected little Nga"s family for a long time of coordinating with people of the resistance war. When hearing that there will be a group of cadres crossing the river, the French tied little Nga"s father and forced her to pretend doing her daily routine in order to trick the cadres. However, little Nga used her cleverness, wisdom, and bravery to rush to the riverbank to alert the cadres of the French troops. While doing that, she was shot down. Just before her last breath, little Nga releases a passerine bird – a dear friend of hers – whom she has been taking care of.

Organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Argentina, Paraguay Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paraguay National Cultural Center El Cabildo.
