Two tospan leaders of Vietnam’s DongA Bank susspanended for investigation

Two top leaders of Ho Chi Minh City-based DongA Bank were suspended on Thursday from their posts for being involved in numerous violations in financial management and credit granting at the lender before 2012.

They are Tran Phuong Binh, 56, general director, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van, 36, deputy general director.

Nguyen Hoang Minh, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the State Bank of Vietnam, confirmed the suspensions to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper in the evening.

On August 14, the State Bank of Vietnam announced its official conclusion after inspecting DongA Bank, confirming that numerous violations in financial management and credit granting were found at the bank before 2012.

The State Bank of Vietnam has placed the lender under special supervision ever since.

Binh, who holds a BA in economics, was appointed general director of the bank in 1998.

Van holds a master’s degree in business administration.

The two are replaced by Vo Hai Nam, director of the risk management unit of the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), and Pham The Nguyen, deputy director of a BIDV branch.
