Vietjet's ospanerational safety is now internationally ensured

Advertorial – What’s better than flying with an airline that offers affordable tickets and is internationally recognized for its safety?

Vietnamese private carrier Vietjet, known for its affordable airfares to ensure that “everyone can enjoy flying,” has added another feather to its cap with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a safety certificate granted by the International Air Transportation Association (IATA).

IOSA certification is a confirmation of the commitment of an airline to deliver safe operations based on the principles stated in the IOSA Standards Manual, and Vietjet deserves the recognition, with its technical reliability ratio previously registered at an impressive 99.49 percent.

Only 16 percent of the world’s total operating airlines are granted this renowned certification, and it took Vietjet only a little over three years to become an IOSA-registered airline.

“IOSA is an internationally accepted and recognized evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline,” Blair Cowles, IATA’s Asia-Pacific regional director for safety and flight operations, said.

“IOSA certification involves a great deal of hard work and requires a significant commitment of people, time and resources.

“I would like to congratulate Viejet for making that commitment and obtaining IOSA certification.”

Vietjet managing director Luu Duc Khanh said the IOSA certification proves that Vietjet’s top priority is assuring flight safety.

“This is especially impressive considering that the aviation industry in the world and the region has been growing faster and faster in terms of fleet expansion, flight network, and passenger and cargo transportation capacity over recent years,” he said.

“With our commitment to complying with world-class safety and security standards, we expect to bring our clients safe, comfortable, joyful and friendly flights.”

The airline has also been bestowed another honor from Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung, with an Acknowledgement Certificate granted by the premier for its continuous contributions to the development of Vietnam’s economy and society in recent years.

The airline announced these two latest accomplishments, which marked a hugely significant milestone in its development path, at a recent ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City. The event was held to review its business performance in the first half of the year and discuss strategy planning for the second half of 2015.

Those attending the meeting and passengers can feel reassured that Vietjet still managed to post impressive business results in the first six months of this year, despite the difficulties and challenges anticipated as the deadline for the creation of the ASEAN Economic Community is drawing near.

Ready for ASEAN Open Skies

In this year’s first half, Vietjet amassed revenue of VND5.7 trillion ($US258 million), achieving its planned profit.

Besides, the airline’s load factor remains high, at approximately 90 percent, transporting more than four million passengers with 25,788 flights and an on-time-performance (OTP) ratio staying at 83 percent. All together, the airline consists of 70 percent of the country’s total domestic air transportation growth rate.

Vietjet is thus ready for the ASEAN Economic Community, as well as the ASEAN Open Skies policy, which the airline sees as an opportunity for itself and other Vietnamese carriers to extend their network further to regional countries.

The ASEAN Open Skies policy, also known as the ASEAN Single Aviation Market, is intended to increase regional and domestic connectivity, integrate production networks and enhance regional trade by allowing airlines from ASEAN member states to fly freely throughout the region via the liberalization of air services under a single, unified air transport market.

Vietjet – which currently has services to such Southeast Asian countries as Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore and soon to Myanmar – will be able to add more to the list following the implementation of the Open Skies policy.

The new-age airline has also been exerting effort to be well-prepared to maintain its competitiveness against regional rivals, with focus placed on personnel training, fleet upgrading and administrative improvement.

Vietjet currently operates a fleet of 26 brand-new and modern A320 and A321 aircraft, with 33 domestic and international routes, and its new training center, which opened in early 2015, has so far trained and certified nearly 3,300 staff, in addition to providing 246 training courses for engineers, pilots, flight safety management teams and others in aviation skills.

The airline has offered millions of people the opportunity to travel by air, and is committed to continuing to offer the most affordable and safest services to passengers.
