Summer fun at Da Nang week-long fest

 

The city’s tourism promotion centre saidthe week would include various entertainment events, art performances,photo exhibitions, sport competitions and recreational events fortourists.

The main events will take place at the city’s East Sea Park on My Khe Beach.

As scheduled, 30 teams of chefs from central provinces and cities will compete in an outdoor cooking competition.

People can enter competitions for BMX, skateboarding, Patin and Parkour, bartending and fun games during the week-long event.

The national beach football championshipand National Youth Cycling Tournament will take place then, as well asopportunities for water skiing and kayaking.

According to the centre, the Colour MeRun and a music festival will be held at the city’s Asia Park withcolourful powder being thrown about during the 5km race on June 27. Amotorcycle parade will also wind through the city’s main streets on June30, showing off 250 motorcycles including new and vintage Ducatis,Harley Davisons, Triumphs, Hondas and Yahamas. 

Con Dao plans to become spiritual, eco-tourism centre

Con Dao Island in the central province of Vung Tau aims to become an international-standard spiritual and eco-tourism centre by 2030, according to a newly approved plan to develop the island.

Under the plan, the island will develop many areas, including Con Son Town, France Town in Con Son Town, a spiritual area, Ben Dam sea station, a natural beach, the Con Dao mountainous area and a system of small islands.

Tours connecting the main island to nearby sites and tours linking Con Dao Island to other provinces and cities will be organised.

Cam Luong Holy Fish Cave to welcome 250,000 tourists

The management board of the Cam Luong Holy Fish Cave in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa targets more than 250,000 visitors this year.

Since the beginning of this year, more than 100,000 people have visited the beautiful site.

Infrastructure around the site has been upgraded, and tourist guides have been trained and security has been ensured. Local residents are also encouraged to raise livestock and plant vegetables to meet tourist demand.

Sao Beach listed among top 10 island beaches to relax on

Readers of an online website, www.cntraveler.com, have selected Sao Beach on Phu Quoc Island of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang as one of the top 10 island beaches to unplug and unwind.

They picked Sao Beach for “its deserted, powder-white shore and lush tropical foliage – those gently swaying fronds offer natural shade from the high noon sun.”

Also, as the beach is isolated and has little in the way of facilities, it’s usually empty.

The other beaches on the list of 10 include Meads Bay, Anguilla; Punta Coco, Isla de Holbox, Mexico; Banana Bay, St Kitts; and Nevis and Honeymoon, St John, US Virgin Islands.

Cu Lao Cham to limit number of visitors to preserve biosphere

Facing the recent huge influxes of tourists, Hoi An’s authorities have decided to allow only 3,000 people to visit its Cu Lao Cham Islands every day, saying the biosphere recognized by UNESCO needs to be protected.

The new rule is slated to take effect on July 1.

The group of small islands, some 15 kilometers off Hoi An’s coast, has been a favorite destination of many travelers.

Rapid increases in arrivals have put the islands, with a combined population of 2,500, under a lot of pressure, especially its environment and water resources, Hoi An’s authorities said.

Official figures showed that more than 75,000 tourists visited Cu Lao Cham, which was recognized as a world biosphere by UNESCO in 2009, over the first four months this year.

That was nearly a three-fold increase from the same period last year, and during the national holiday on April 30 and May 1, up to 11,000 tourists came to the islands a day.

“If we continue to let tourists flock into Cu Lao Cham, we will likely lose the islands in a few years,” Nguyen The Hung, vice chairman of Hoi An Town People’s Committee, said in an interview with Thanh Nien.

Meanwhile, asked about travel companies’ responses to the new rule, Dinh Thi Thu Thuy, chief of Hoi An’s tourism division, said many of them had previously proposed authorities to take similar action, as “signs of exhaustion” already showed in the local boat station and services.

Authorities will collaborate with the businesses in controlling the situation so the number of visitors will always be within the limit, Thuy said.

In the meantime, she said, they have been promoting stay-over services on the islands, as statistics showed that less than 10% of tourists spent the night on Cu Lao Cham.
